The reasonable selection of water treatment equipment is the knowledge that every designer needs to master. As the core equipment for transportation and lifting, pumps are everywhere in water treatment projects. Therefore, how to select a water pump is also very important! Before buying a water pump, many users think that a higher-lift water pump with a lower lift condition will have a wider range of use. Based on this misleading misunderstanding, when buying a water pump, they choose a water pump with a very high lift.
In fact, for centrifugal water pumps, when the pump model is determined, its power consumption is proportional to the actual pump and flow size. The flow rate will increase when the pump uses a lower head; thus the current is higher, the flow rate is smaller, and the power consumption is lower. Conversely, the head is reduced, the flow rate is larger, and the power consumption is greater. Therefore, in order to prevent the motor from overloading, it is generally required that the actual calibrated head of the pump pumping head should not be less than 60%.
Therefore, when a high-lift water pump is used for low-lift, it is easy to overload the motor and heat up easily. In severe cases, the motor is burned out. If it is used in an emergency, it must be adjusted with the outlet valve installed on the outlet pipe. Usually, a self-operated regulating valve (or wood block, and other methods) can be used to reduce the outlet flow and prevent the motor from overloading. Pay attention to the temperature of the motor. If the motor is overheated, a small outlet flow or shutdown in time can avoid burning the motor. Some users rely on reducing the power supply voltage to force a reduction in flow, which will increase the motor load. In fact, on the contrary, the unit outlet pipes of the centrifugal pump irrigation and drainage station are equipped with valves for the purpose of reducing the motor load. The valve should be closed before the pump is shut down. After the pump is started, the valve should be gradually opened so that it will not over-current when it starts.
It should be installed like this: install the low-lift water pump in front of the high-lift water pump, that is, the outlet water of the low-lift water pump is sent to the inlet of the high-lift water pump. There is a problem here that the outlet pressure of the low-lift water pump cannot exceed the upper limit of the inlet pressure of the high-lift water pump, otherwise overpressure leakage is likely to occur.
Therefore, the choice of lift is crucial. When purchasing a water pump, you must first find out the required lift or outlet pressure in order to correctly choose the appropriate water pump!
